What we keep seeing

The island has become the social counter: a slab of marble or quartz with waterfall edges, stools along one side, the hob kept elsewhere.
Cabinetry is going handleless and quiet, in greige, taupe and warm white, with fluted timber or reeded glass for the one textured run.
